At Chez Dany, conviviality is king

Chez Dany Sugar Shack in Trois-Rivières keeps the tradition of Quebec-style hospitality alive. Drop by for a meal and a fun time in a homey atmosphere!

When it comes to hospitality, Chez Dany Sugar Shack is not messing around! That much is clear from the country-style décor to the big red letters adorning the front of this sugar shack managed by Dany Néron. People who dine at this property tucked away in Trois-Rivières have nothing but praise for the atmosphere and hospitality, with “warm” and “friendly” topping the list of descriptive adjectives. Our French cousins, who are among the regulars here, point readily to the authentic nature of the 20-year-old sugar shack. Also appreciated are the explanations on the process of making maple syrup, a staple of the local food scene!

A party in the dining room and a feast in your plate!

The atmosphere is another feature that the owner and his team seek to create through a healthy dose of music. In this rustic building, an accordionist, a violin player and a singer are often present to liven up the sugaring-off feasts. Rigadoons, wooden spoons and heaps of tradition accompany their tunes that are part of the surrounding folklore.

The menu is as authentic as can be, from starters to mains to desserts! The offerings (baked beans, maple-smoked ham, crispy pork rinds, etc.) are a no-frills celebration of local food, and Chez Dany serves their classic after-dinner sweet, maple taffy, year-round.

And to prove that hospitality isn’t just an empty word, the menus are offered in eight languages, making guests feel at home as soon as they enter the door. Another example of Authentic Quebec at its finest!
