The brilliant convergence of science, art and industrial history on the banks of the Rivière Saint-Maurice.
The Cité de l’énergie has become Shawinigan’s emblem. “It is the only such complex in Canada,” says Robert Trudel, the mastermind behind this project, which was launched 15 years ago. Its tower, rising 350 feet above the water, offers an incredible view of a region founded by hydroelectric dams and aluminum plants. The Cité de l’énergie features numerous scientific and historic exhibits as well as the “Energia” show, all about nature’s incredible power. F or a slower pace, why not take a cruise on the Rivière Saint-Maurice’s tranquil waters, flowing through the birthplace of industrialization in Canada.
