From grain to bottle! Established in 2016, the Grand Dérangement Distillery is the first micro-distillery in Lanaudière. Its owners’ desire is to create unforgettable experiences through exceptional organic spirits. Even though it’s considered a micro-distillery, it stands out for its large production capacity.
The idea of starting a distillery first began brewing in the mind of Marcel Mailhot’s nephew in 2016. After several months of research and development, Marcel Mailhot, a large organic vegetable producer, decided to found the Grand Dérangement distillery.
On site, the distiller’s economuseum offers a discovery of all aspects of artisanal distillation, reviving the wild years of the great Melchers distillery as well as the history behind the name of “Grand Dérangement”, from the Acadian deportation in 1755 until their return to Quebec soil. A beautiful discovery!
