What better way to experience how the lumberjacks of yesteryear lived than to walk through the Village du bûcheron. Located in Grandes-Piles, this site, which retraces 100 years of history (1850-1950) and brings visitors in contact with numerous objects and machines from the past. By visiting the Village du bûcheron, you will discover how Mauricie and all province of Québec have developed through the forest industry. It is also an opportunity to see how men lived in the forest at the beginning of the colonization, how the wood was transported by floating on the river and how the raw material was processed in the towns and villages. You also have the possibility to book a canoe trip on the St.Maurice River.
