Whether pilgrim or tourist, thousands of people each year visit the Our Lady of the Cape Shrine.
North America’s largest place of worship devoted to the Virgin Mary. Located in Trois-Rivières on the banks of the St. Lawrence River, the peacefulness of the church and its magnificent gardens makes it perfectly conducive to quiet contemplation. With its modern basilica, old sanctuary and impressive stained-glass windows, the shrine is both a spiritual and cultural attraction. In fact, the stone church is rich in history. Opened in 1720, it is the oldest church in the country to have been completely preserved, which makes it an absolute must-see for every tourist. Even Pope Jean-Paul II visited the shrine in 1984.
“The shrine is both a spiritual and cultural attraction.”
