The city of Trois-Rivières is now home to this fine-looking leading cultural venue that already has a star-filled program.
An aesthetically harmonious modern building facing the confluence of the Saint- Maurice and Saint Lawrence Rivers, this indoor and outdoor concert hall boasts 14,000 m2 (150,700 sq. ft.) of space, covered seating for 3,500, plus room for 5,500 standing spectators outdoors on the grassy esplanade, for a total audience capacity of 9,000. Designed by Montreal architect Paul Laurendeau, this project was selected for its elegant design and for the way it generously opens onto the water.
A landmark summer event
For its kickoff show on July 15, 2015, the amphitheatre has pulled off a masterstroke by presenting an exclusive Cirque de Soleil performance. In fact, every summer during its first three years of operation, the venue will offer a brand new show by this world-famous circus. The first production – 25 artists on stage for 75 minutes of entertainment, music and poetry – is entitled “Le monde est fou” (the world is crazy), and pays tribute to the iconic musical group Beau Dommage, formed in 1972. You can bet that locals, Quebecers and visitors alike will be crazy about it!
