Gifts to Help Understand History

One of Canada’s most popular politicians unveils his treasures. In 2011, the mysteries of diplomacy and major international issues are revealed via, among others, the enormous collection of personal gifts given to Jean Chrétien, Canada’s former prime minister. Leader of the country from 1993 to 2003, this Shawinigan native loaned the gifts he received as Deputy Minister and Prime Minister to Cité de l’énergie for the Musée du Canada dans le monde. However, the exhibit goes beyond Mr. Chrétien’s many assorted souvenirs, explaining Canada’s role in the world since the 1960s.
